STUDENT MAIL POLICY
___________________
As of May 5, 2003, all mail on the VM Spool will be retained using the
retention periods listed above.
These defaults are set at the server, meaning you cannot change the parameters
defined. The same defaults are currently in place for faculty and staff using
UCONNVM.UCONN.EDU email. The changes will bring a consistency for all users.
If you need to save your email for longer periods of time, you can set a mail
forward (in addition to UCONNVM.UCONN.EDU) to HUSKYMAIL.UCONN.EDU, which will
continue to maintain it's default storage size of 25MB and will not have date
aging applied; your email will remain in store until you delete it.
In addition, to the above you can use a POP client configured to store a copy
of your mail on your desktop or use MAILBOOK (the MAIL option) from your CMS
account which stores the mail in NOTEBOOK files on VM.
The following resources will provide you with more information about email.
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| From your web browser: |

NOTE: In some cases, it may be necessary to delete files before their normal
expiration. This may occur when spool space is drastically low, when a
computer virus is observed on the spool, or in other circumstances.

The Computer Center reserves the right to change these policies without notice.
Reader files are not backed up; reader files discarded by the user can not be
restored.
