Carlton Molette

Carlton Molette, senior fellow at the Institute, is a professor of dramatic arts. A member of the Dramatists Guild, several of his plays, co-authored with his wife, Barbara Molette, have been produced and are published in anthologies, including the Black Writers of America and Centerstage. The Molettes' book, Black Theatre: Premise and Presentation, is in its second edition. Professor Molette has served as a guest director at the University of Michigan, a seminar leader in African-American drama at the University of Iowa, and as a consultant for universities, colleges, and theater companies. He was chair of the Division of Fine Arts at Spelman College, dean of Texas Southern University's School of Communications, dean of Arts and Sciences at Lincoln (MO) University, and vice president for academic affairs at Coppin State College. He also was artistic director of the Atlanta University Summer Theatre. He earned a Ph.D. from Florida State University, a master's degree from the University of Iowa, and a B.A. from Morehouse College.
