Suzette Spencer

Suzette, is an assistant professor with a joint appointment in the Department of English. She holds a Ph.D. in African American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. from Clark Atlanta University. She has received numerous awards, fellowships and honors, including a post-doctorate at Cornell University. Her areas of teaching and research include nineteenth- and twentieth-century African American and Caribbean literatures, nineteenth-century black political thought, Diaspora cultural studies, and feminist critique. She has taught at the University of California Berkeley and at Cornell University.
