The
primary purpose of the Campus Master Plan is to establish a blueprint
for change in order to provide a thoughtful and integrated framework
for UCONN 2000 projects and to establish design guidelines for all
future projects. These guidelines will allow the University
to improve upon its existing image, foster a sense of physical unity
and provide a greater degree of campus-wide organization.
The blueprint establishes an orderly direction for change that allows
the University to utilize its resources to their maximum potential
while improving its unique learning environment. |
An interactive planning process was established whereby University administration,
faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members were able to provide
meaningful input. To achieve high levels of interaction, personal
interviews, numerous workshops and e-mail were successfully incorporated
into the extremely dynamic planning process. This interaction provided
more accurate analysis of existing conditions, creative development of
various organizational concepts, logical assessment of alternatives, and
refinements of recommendations. The final outcome is a Master Plan
which is understood and supported throughout the University community.
This support will ultimately facilitate the implementation of projects
which achieve the Plan's recommendations.
