Instructor: Dr. Tsoung-Chao Lee

GSTAT.ZIP - Computes descriptive statistics for grouped data, for review of basic elementary statistics, programmed by the instructor.

STATU123.ZIP - A STAT TUTOR program for learning stat concept.

Free EXPO Student Edition - Click to download free software EXPO 3.1 (statistics, financial analysis, econometrics, time series analysis, simulation, analysis of financial markets, options modeling, full matrix and calculus operations, and more).

SHAZAM - Click here to learn more about the Econometric Computer Program that will be used in this course. UConn has the site license for version 8.0 both in DOS and Windows.

SAS - Click here to learn more about the SAS computer software.

Catalogue of Econometrics and Economics Software - from The Economics Centre of the Learning and Teaching Support Network

The Class starts on Thursday, 1/24/02 at 11:00am-12:15pm in Room 233-234 B. Young Building.

If you are not sure if this course is appropriate for you, make sure that you attend the first class. There will be a survey of your quantiative knowledge for you to judge yourself if you are ready for the class. Two semesters of Statistics may be ready for the course for most people, but some may not be ready. On the other hand, some can pick up the knowledge very fast with minimal knowledge in Statistics.

Textbook: Learning and Practicing Econometrics, Wiley, 1993, by W. G. Griffiths, R. C. Hill, and G. G. Judge.
Students are expected to read 10 pages a day (50 pages a week). You can start reading it now before classes start to save your time during the semester.

Software to be used for exercises: SHAZAM (UConn has the site license for every computer on compus. Students can get a free copy to use on compus too.)

Table 2.2 - Data for Exercise #1 (The Shazam commands that you will need to use for this exercise are SAMPLE, READ, PRINT, STAT with PMEDIAN option, PLOT with HISTO option, and PLOT without option. For a better view, GRAPHICS option may be used.)

Table 2.5 - Also data for Exercise #1

Table 9.8 - Data for Exercise #6

Table 12.6 - Data for Exercise #7

ECTEST50.ZIP - Unzip the file and execute ECTEST50.COM in DOS to test your Basic Knowledge in Econometrics. Each test is a random choice of different 50 true-false questions from a pool of 150. If you want to exhaust all 150 questions, you must test yourself many times. Try as many times as you wish. Unlike written exam, this computer test demands no reasons for your true/false choice. This program was made for the purpose of helping students in ARE 345/ECON 310 (Econometrics I) review the course material for the final exam. Hand in the encrypted file ECONOMET.CRY on the day of final examination to show your effort. You can monitor your own progress by evaluating the statistics listed at the end of the test. The program will hold the question for you to read it again when your answer is wrong.

Midterm Grades - Midterm grades and minimum scores for final for 80 and 90 for the course.

Table 12.5 - Data for Exercise #8

Table 13.4 - Data for Exercise #8

Table 15.3 - Data for Exercise #10

Table 16.5 - Data for Exercise #10

Table 18.2 - Data for Exercise #12

Econometrics Quiz 1 - click to try an experimental test on line.

Final examination will be on Thursday 5/16/02, 1:00-3:00pm, Room 233.

Grade - Final and course grades.

More information will be posted when needed.
