Post 18th c. linen Turkish towel end sampler.
has some similar colors and stitchwork as those used in Southern
Russian work during the 18th c.
The end sampler was done at a later date.
This 'towel' was used decoratively in
the household and in religious and
holiday processions. It was also a gift
from the bride to the groom's family to proove
her skill in needlework.
