Coopers and Lybrand "Quick Wins"

Date: December 19, 1997

Reformatted: December 31, 1997

Coopers & Lybrand was retained by the University to review and develop an assessment of the student services area. As part of this assessment of student services, a list of seventeen "Quick Wins" was created (attached).

I am writing to you to request your assistance with the first recommendation on this list, Eliminate Unused Reports. We periodically send notices to our users asking them to review a report list and identify those reports which are no longer desired. This year, I am asking my managers of Production Control & Scheduling and Computer Operations (Linda Nanni and Joe D'Aloia respectively) to head up this effort and to advertise it as clearly as possible. You can help by insisting that your staff make a concerted effort to review all the reports listed for your area.

As always, if you have questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks in advance for you help with this effort.

"Quick Wins"

  1. Eliminate Unused Reports. There are currently many reports run out of the Computer Center that are not read by staff to whom they are sent. For example, a 600+ page log of transactions that is run each night and distributed to administrative offices is immediately recycled upon receipt. These unread reports consume paper and printing time.

For a complete listing of "Quick Wins" please see the hard copy that was distributed to Deans, Directors, Department Heads, and Other Interested Parties.
