Changes to the On-line Faculty, Staff and Student Directory

In time for the Spring 1998 semester, there will be many improvements to the Faculty, Staff & Student Directory that is accessible through UCINFO at http://www2.uconn.edu.

• Information about all current students will be included (subject to Federal privacy act (FERPA) guidelines), whether they be resident or commuter, graduate or undergraduate.
• Faculty/staff information will be taken directly from the Human Resources databases, which will more closely resemble the information contained in the printed Faculty/Staff Directory. In addition, information on more people including Emeritus, Retirees, and some non-employee individuals will be included.
• There will be one entry per individual, combining telephone numbers with address/location/status information.
• E-mail addresses and personal web pages will be :q.hot linked:eq. to simplify communication and navigation.
• More fields will (eventually) be made searchable, including department, UBox, e-mail address, etc.
• The directory will be available regardless of what web browser is being used (e.g. Netscape, MS Internet Explorer).

These same improvements will be implemented in the CMS environment by standardizing all telephone/e-mail directory displays, whether one is using OfficeVision (a.k.a. PROFS), a PH client, or any of the telephone number lookup execs (PHONE, PHONEADM, PHONESTD, etc.).

Option D off the main VTAM menu (screen UCC10) will also have a new look, incorporating most of these improvements.

Over the next few weeks, other enhancements will be made to further improve the directory, including presenting a condensed list of names that meet your search string, additional searchable fields, links to other directories, and other improvements.

An on-line form (at http://vm.uconn.edu/~ucinfo/mailform.html ) is available for use to supply us with new or revised e-mail and/or web page addresses. All other data is maintained by the Dept. of Human Resources for faculty and staff, or by the Registrar for students. Please contact the appropriate office to report any corrections.
