ATTENTION: Deans, Directors, Department Heads, and Other Interested Parties

Over the last few weeks, members of the Computer Cent staff have been evaluating Norton AntiVirus software as a replacement for the current Husky standard, McAfee.

This has become necessary because Network Associates (the new owners of McAfee software) have increased the cost of their site license by more than 500%. In addition, support for Macintosh platforms, including data file updates, has been removed.

Test evaluations of Norton AntiVirus, using a variety of operating systems, have proven to be completely successful, including the ability of the software to automatically update virus data files. This precludes the need for an individual to remember to update their data files.

As a result, Norton AntiVirus will now become the Husky standard for anti-virus software.

The current license for McAfee expires on 12/30/98. If you are using this software, it will need to be deinstalled.

Instructions on how to deinstall McAfee, along with instructions for downloading and installing Norton AntiVirus, can be found using any web browser at the following URL:
