New Telephone Features
Date: August 13, 1996
ATTENTION: Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, Department Heads,
and Other Interested Parties
Effective August 23, 1996,
two new line features will be added to both
analog and ISDN telephone lines. These new features are described below.
- Caller ID Suppression:
This feature will suppress the station number
from displaying on the receiving station on a per-call basis.
- Lift handset
- Depress *67
- Dial desired number
Caller ID is a system-wide feature which sends the caller's number to
both internal and external telephones capable of receiving and
displaying the incoming station identification information. Unless
you have specifically designated Private Number
or you use the per-call
override instructions detailed above, your station information
will be sent to both internal and external callers.
-
Call Pick-up:
This feature allows the pick-up of another extension
that is in a particular call pick-up group. Currently
analog and ISDN lines use different key sequences in
order to activate this feature. The key sequences will
now be the same for both line types. To retrieve a call in your call
pick-up group:
- Hear ringing telephone
- Lift handset
- Depress *99
- Caller will be on the line
If you have any questions about either of these two features, please call
Telecommunications at 486-0300.
