Cyrus Cyrus Ernesto "Ernie" Zirakzadeh (University of California, Berkeley, Ph.D.) has taught political science at the University of Connecticut for more than twenty years, and directed the University's cross-college and multiple-campus Honors Programs for five of those years. He has written on participatory politics, twentieth-century political thought, and contemporary social movements in Europe, Latin America, and North America. His research has appeared in several books, edited volumes, and professional journals, including Polity, West European Politics, Journal of Theoretical Politics, and Comparative Studies in Society and History. Dr. Zirakzadeh's Social Movements in Politics: A Comparative Study was named a "Choice Outstanding Academic Book."
